Turing Machine
Build and run Turing machines on a live tape, step by step
Example machines
Adds 1 to a binary number, e.g. 1011 -> 1100. q0 walks right to the end, q1 carries the 1 left.
5 of 5 free copies left - everything runs locally in your browser.
Tape
state: q0Blank symbol is _. A machine halts when no rule matches; states starting with accept or reject are reported as accepted or rejected.
Rule table (state, read, write, move, next)
Transition log
Press run or step - every transition the head makes is listed here.
About this tool
IconVault's Turing Machine simulator lets you define states and transition rules (what to read, what to write, which way to move, which state is next) and watch the machine run on a live tape, either step by step or run to completion, with adjustable speed and a reset button.
It ships with working examples, binary increment, palindrome check and flip bits, so you can learn by editing a real machine instead of starting from theory, and everything runs entirely in your browser, free with no signup. The honest note: it is a teaching simulator, not a formal verifier, so it will not prove halting or decidability for you.
